5.4 Million People Food Insecure

About 5.4 million people in Malawi are said to be facing severe and chronic food insecurity, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification analysis on Chronic Food Insecurity in Malawi has established.
The analysis done by Malawi Vulnerability Assessment Committee, World Food Program, and other UN Agencies says the situation is due to abject poverty, poor policies, and recurrent shocks.
 
The report on the analysis has been launched today in Lilongwe where the Minister of finance and economic affairs Sosten Gwengwe said government will use the findings in implementing programs that address the challenges highlighted.
