District’s chairperson for health, Darlington Thole, argues the drop in cholera cases are a wake up call for authorities to intensify awareness among communities.
He was reacting to reports that the district has been voted among the three districts who are successfully containing the outbreak where its District Environmental Health Officer attributes to concerted efforts among all key stakeholders in the district.
On Friday health authorities in the district revealed to the media that cholera cases are on the decline following efforts by stakeholders and the hospital in implementing pot to pot chlorination among others.
Cumulatively, Balaka has registered 3, 564 cholera cases with 89 deaths since March last year.
