These people are called scavengers. They come from the surrounding villages of Chikungu, Kamwana and Mutchi. They dig through the refuse in search for unfinished bread and bones with a few small pieces of meat left on them, nearly empty pop bottles to drink and various items to re-sell.

The highlight of the day comes with the arrival of the truck. Everyone crowds around and starts picking through the items. A few use gloves but most use their bare hands.
