The parliamentarian demanded compensation through his lawyers on grounds that he suffered psychological, physical, and economic loss following the case of his election against Ralph Mhone.
The commission was given two weeks to settle the payment, but a month has elapsed and MEC legal counsel David Matumika Banda has now come out in the open to say the commission will not compensate Kaunda.
“Communication was already made to his legal team that the commission will not compensate him and reasons were also stated in the communication,” he said.
When contacted, Vuwa Kaunda and his lawyer Leonard Mbulo declined to comment on the issue.
The Nkhata Bay Central Parliamentarian was reinstated following his victory in the fresh election held on June 30 this year after the May 2019 parliamentary election was nullified by the supreme court of Appeal citing several irregularities.
