DPP Calls for Chakwera Resignation

The main opposition Democratic Progressive Party has challenged President Lazarus Chakwera to resign for failing to run the economy which is in total shambles, leaving Malawians struggling.

Some top party officials have said this during a press briefing in Lilongwe, that the economic woes the country has are a result of the government's incompetence through careless expenditure.

Its northern region vice president Goodall Gondwe told us government careless spending and public borrowing has wiped out the little forex reserve the country had, adding a referendum is needed now so that Malawians can speak on what they think of the Tonse Government.

Meanwhile, sympathizers of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Ntchisi, are calling for the immediate resignation of their District governor Frazer Chimwala, accusing him of failing to run the affairs of the party.

Representing a group of supporters, treasurer for the party from Malomo in TA Chilooko’s area in the district Gift Masiya, has told Zodiak today that among others the governor is allegedly running the affairs of the party as personal property.

But Chimwala says he cannot resign from the position arguing that those that are pushing for the move are just a few individuals who are jealous of him and not the whole supporters in the district.
