Frequent Road Users Will Receive Discount in Toll Gates

Public Relations Officer for Roads Fund Administration Mr. Masauko Ngwaluko says all frequent road users like minibusses and people living within a ten-kilometer radius will qualify for discount when passing through toll gates.

Ngwaluko told Zodiak that the President, Vice President, security vehicles, ambulances, and fire vehicles will not be paying to pass through the toll gates.

He disclosed this after a sensitization meeting with Police officers in Dedza on Tuesday.

"Construction works in Dedza will be completed by December this year while at Chingeni in September this year," said Ngwaluko.

According to Ngwaluko, currently, they have embarked on sensitization meetings with several stakeholders on how the toll-gates will be used.

"Police officers have a crucial role in providing security and controlling traffic in toll gates.

"We are also pleading with people to avoid vending in toll-gates, vandalism, and constructing structures very close to the toll gates," said Ngwaluko.

Director of Community Policing and Rural Police Units at Malawi Police Service Obrey Nyirenda said, they will Provide security in all toll gates in Malawi

"As Malawi Police Service, we will make sure operations are going on smoothly to avoid accidents in these places and currently will start sensitization meetings with communities," said Nyirenda.

Meanwhile, Officer Incharge for Dedza Mwiza Nyoni said, they will also focus on sensitizing road users, people in schools, and markets on how the toll-gates will be used.
