Chinese National Lu Ke Caught on The Run

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services, has told Zodiak Online that Lu Ke, a Chinese National who is alleged to have been exploiting Malawian Children at Njewa in Lilongwe by shooting videos and selling them for profit in China was arrested yesterday in Chipata Zambia.

Spokesperson for the Department, responsible for the Central Region Pasqually Zulu says Lu Ke has been coming to Malawi since 2018 for business interest but left the country through unchartered routes following the results of an investigation by BBC Africa Eye.

Zulu says they are working with the Zambian government to have Lu Ke extradited.

"He fled the country using uncharted routes to Zambia upon getting information that he is on the wanted list.

He adds, "We are working closely with our friends in Zambia so that Mr. Lu Ke is prepared to come back to Malawi so that he should answer some of the charges."

Meanwhile, Child Rights Activist Memory Chisenga has applauded the development saying they will continue following up on the matter until the Chinese national is prosecuted.

"We cannot be allowing people just to come in our country and exploit our children and go free. We will follow it up to make sure he is prosecuted, even in court that his case does not take time to be concluded."

Child Rights Clinicians under UNIMA’s Faculty of Law will be demonstrating tomorrow in Lilongwe against what they call racist acts and child abuses by the Chinese National, Lu Ke.
