11 Bills Sent To Chakwera; Labour Relations Amendment Bill Not On The List

Zodiak has established that the controversial labour relations amendment bill is not part of the eleven bills that parliament has sent to President Lazarus Chakwera for assent.

According to the information that we have, eleven bills have been sent to the president for assent, but missing on the list, is the controversial labor relations bill which seeks to limit the number of days workers can go on a strike per year.

Parliament spokesperson Ian Mwenye says that parliament is still working on the assent copies and the bill will be sent to the president for approval, without specifying time.

“We are still working on the assenting documents and will be sent once done,” he said.

Statehouse director of communication Sean Kampondeni has acknowledged that currently, the 11 other bills are in the hands of the president, and he is reviewing them.

“The president is reviewing the documents one by one and they need thorough review,” he said.

The controversial labor relations bill was passed in parliament despite that it received massive opposition from several stakeholders including labor unions.
