Board member for the church and society of the Blantyre Synod of the CCAP church, Rev Dr Josephy Thipha says it is the church's desire to have majority of its members vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reverend Thipa made the call when the church held one day workshop for over 43 pastors and elders drawn from different presbyteries of the church in southern region aimed at orienting them on how they can encourage their members to go for the jab.

His remarks come amid myths and misinformation around the COVD-19 pandemic in the country particularly among Christians who   believe that the pandemic is a snare from the devil meant to trap them.

"The myths and misinformation around COVID-19 pandemic has also not spared our churches. However, we would like our members to take COVID-19 pandemic just like any other and pandemic subject to all the prevention measures.

We are therefore calling upon all our members across the country to disregard myths going around about COVID-19 and ensure that they are vaccinated,” he said.

Reverend Ronax Namalonya of Mulanje Presbytery hailed the training as an eye opener saying it will help him to encourage his church members to go for COVID-19 vaccination.

Blantyre Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian has over 1.2 million members covering the entire Southern Region District.
