Forex Shortage Hits Anglican Church

MZUZU: Shortage of forex which Malawi is experiencing has not spared the Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi as it is failing to import drugs for its hospitals in the region, Bishop Fanwel Magangani has disclosed.

Bishop Magangani told Zodiak  Online currently the hospital management is referring patients to buy drugs in private pharmacies.

“We are struggling because the shortage of foreign exchange has affected import of medical equipment and drugs in these facilities,” Bishop Magangani said.

He cited surgical gloves as some of the equipment the church is now failing to import from South Africa following shortage of forex.

The Bishop however indicated some sometimes well wishers abroad support them with some of the drugs and medical equipment.
