ZOMBA: The Malawi National Examination Board says it is impressed with the just released standard eight and Junior Certificate examination results.
According to MANEB spokesperson Gerald Chiunda, 205, 739 candidates sat for the standard eight examinations and 141, 646 have passed, representing a 68.85 this higher. This is 1 percent higher than last year.
For the Junior Certificate, 120, 668 sat for the examinations and 80, 157 have passed, 6 percent higher that last year.
Meanwhile, Educational Rights body Civil Society Coalition for Quality Basic Education says the just released standard 8 and JC examination results remain nothing to smile about.
For example MANEB says out of 205, 739 candidates who sat for standard eight examinations and 141, 646 representing 68.85 percent.
This is one percent higher than last year’s 67 percent.
But CSCQBE executive Director Benedicto Kondowe says the results reflect on the poor state of the country’s education standards. - Zodiak Online
