New Party Emerges in Malawi

LILONGWE: A new political party African Nyasaland Party is taking shape in Malawi. On registration with the Registrar of Political Parties, the African Nyasaland Party, shall have become party number 34.

Interim president of the new party Mr. Laurent Sichinga told Zodiak Online the coming of a new party is justified in Malawi as it brings with it solutions to current problems rocking the country.

However, Mr. Sichinga is yet to collect signatures of people who believe in his political ideology from across the country, a requirement for a party to register in Malawi.

His public appearance will almost immediately remind one of the first indigenous president of Malawi, Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda. He walks about with a white flywhisk.

On Sunday January 1, Mr. Sichinga decided to come out public on his political ambitions.

Mr. Sichinga claims to have been in Diaspora the past 21 years and ekes a living out of doing undisclosed business. He says after those years in South Africa, he is back to remedy current socio-economic woes.

The new kid on the local political block says his coming back to join the race was in direct response to calls from the current leadership for the opposition to desist from making accusations but offer remedy.

Without making mention of what the African Nyasalanda Party has in store as answers to challenges being faced by the populous, Mr. Sichinga said he was optimistic that ANP would make history the pains.

Upon registration, the African Nyasaland Party will become the 34th political party in the country.

Synonymous with most local political parties, ANP has an owner; Mr. Lawrence Sichinga. - Zodiak Online
