Diseases Infect Malawi Police
Inspector General of Police Peter Mukhitho has disclosed that the Malawi Police Service has also been infected with non communicable and malnutrition related diseases like overweight and high blood pressure.
The police boss made the remarks on Wednesday in Lilongwe when Rab Processors donated food supplements worth two million kwacha to the Malawi Police Service.
“Such malnutrition related disorders have long term adverse effects on the intellectual and physical ability of the police officers. Over weight and blood pressure problems have not spared our men. I am therefore appreciative to Rab Processors for the donation,” said Mukhito
He said improved nutrition for members of the Malawi Police Service is vital so that they discharge their duties properly.
Chairperson of Rab Processors Company, Mr. Gaffar Jakhura said the two million kwacha food supplement is fulfillment of the pledge the company made in 2011.
The company made the promise when President Bingu wa Mutharika commissioned their Biscuit Manufacturing Plant at Maselema in Blantyre.
“Our intention to come up with this donation arose from the realization and appreciation of the tough job police officers of the MPS are called to do,” says Mr. Jakhura.—Zodiak Online
