Young People Embrace Atupele’s Agenda for Change
A group of young people at Makanjira in Mangochi have embraced Atupele Muluzi’s agenda for change campaign and have since called upon authorities to change their mind set towards the role of the youth in politics.
The youth group made the call on Sunday at Chiphole in T/A Makanjira’s area where they met to discuss issues that are affecting the youth in the country.
Chairperson for the group, Mr. Ousman Kennedy called on the authorities to stop harassing the youth because they have opposing views.
“In this country we have had many issues where the youth are being taken as enemies,” said Kennedy, giving the example of lawyer Ralph Kasambara whom he said the government is harsh on him because he rebukes it on lack of good governance.
“Was there anything wrong that (Ralph) Kasambara committed that he deserved to be sent into condemned Cells?” queried Kennedy
He said it is high time the youth demonstrated that they are capable of leading and changing the system of oppression which he said the DPP government is practicing.
The group has said although it is not part of any political party, but it supports the ‘agenda for change’ Which UDF’s Atupele Muluzi is championing.
Atupele, son to former President Bakili Muluzi, has shown interest to contest as presidential candidate at the party’s convention in 2013 when he will be 35. —Zodiak Online
