Norway Rescues Malawi Disabled

LILONGWE: Norwegian Association of the Disabled has pumped in US$1.8 million, approximately K300 million for the improvement of the welfare of people with disabilities.

The organization’s Head of International development Svien Brodtkorb said many people with disabilities require urgent help.

Minister of Gender and people with disabilities Mrs. Reen Kachere and Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development Dr. Cornelius Mwaluwanda applauded the Norwegians for the gesture.

The donations given will assist strengthen Community Based Organizations that deal with issues of people with disabilities.

Minister responsible for gender community service and child development, Mrs. Kachere said three quarters of the money will be given to the Malawi Council for the Handicapped MACOHA and Federation of People with Disabilities in Malawi FEDOMA. – Zodiak Online
