General Secretary of the Evangelical Association of Malawi Reverend Francis Mkandawire says the Love Malawi Festival has come to give hope to Malawians.

Speaking at a meeting with the media in Blantyre on Tuesday morning Mkandawire said the festival is happening at a time the country is facing an increase in suicide cases.

“It is a good thing that this festival is happening now. We are going through a time when our people are faced with a lot of challenges. We have had cases of suicide on the rise and we are losing a lot of young people. This festival will give our people hope again,” he said.

Organizer of the event, internationally acclaimed Evangelist Andrew Palau has said the Love Malawi Festival is meant to transform lives and impact neighborhoods.

“This is the second time we are coming to Malawi.  We came first in 2016 and now we are back to continue to change people’s lives. The festival is more than just preaching but through various activities we are hoping to transform lives and make an impact in our neighborhoods.

“We have already started the festival with various activities. We have eyeglass clinics running in various centres around Blantyre where we are giving reading glasses to those who need them but can’t afford to buy them.

“We have prison visits where we reach out to prisoners and offer an opportunity to change lives. Other activities include cycling, bike riding extreme sports all trying to encourage and show that you can do all this in a way that pleases God,” said Palau.

The climax of the festival will be from the 1st to the 3rd of October at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES) Sports Complex in Blantyre which will see international gospel artist, Don Moen, featuring local artist Faith Musa, Kamuzu Barracks Singers, Skeffa Chimoto and Shammah Vocals among others.
