NBM Chief Finance Officer, Masauko Katsala, says it is their wish to be associated with the body that regulates accounting profession in the country.

“We recruit a lot of accountants who are members of ICAM. We find the body very relevant to our members. If you look at this year’s conference’s theme, we find it very relevant and we believe that our members in the bank when they participate this conference, they will benefit from that theme,” he said on Wednesday after presenting the dummy cheque.

On Thursday, FDH presented its support to the Institute in Blantyre.

FDH Head of Marketing and Communications, Levi Nkunika, said that they decided to support the Institute after considering that “ICAM is a big institution in Malawi and most of its members are our investment customers.

“It is a great opportunity for us to contribute to make sure that the event takes place and also offers an additional platform where we can engage with them and learn more as their investment and national requirements are changing,” he said.

ICAM Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Francis Gondwe, assured its partners that they will ensure that accountants in the country remain relevant to their duties.

“The accountancy profession is very dynamic. Things are changing almost every day. It is, therefore, important that our members also remain relevant.

“They can remain relevant by attending our trainings because our trainings provide necessary information for members to be able to up their games so that they can provide better services to their employers,’ he said.

Dr. Gondwe said the conference will be held under a theme “Prudent Financial Management Amidst COVID-19”, saying they want to look at business that have done well and those that have not during the pandemic period and learn from them.

Finance minister, Felix Mlusu, will grace the occasion.
