Chief Executive Officer for Agilitee, Dr, Mandla Lamba, says this is a great opportunity for Agilitee as the company does not only provide hybrid but green energy as well.

“We are able to take homes and businesses completely off the grid at a very cost-effective way while providing sustainable green electricity that never blacks out. Our power wall solution was developed specifically as an African solution to power outages.

“South Africa recently came out of a three-week-long power outage, so Malawi is not an isolated case,” says Dr. Lamba.

The green-tech company outlet to be opened in Lilongwe shall provide access to electric vehicles, electric motorcycles, and electric scooters.

"We are finalizing the appointment of directors then the company will be formed in Malawi. The base will be in Lilongwe and we will be providing EV Solutions, Green Energy solutions," says Dr. Lamba disclosing that in mid-December 2021, the company will announce new green solutions that are not electric vehicles.

At least a thousand people are expected to get employed at the company in the first 18 months of its operation especially in the assembly plant and EV infrastructure development, which is a challenge in Malawi at the moment.

“Since we control the entire value chain, so the job creation will span out in that manner and not just manufacturing and assembling,” he observed saying the company shall be engaging the government of Malawi on collaboration in the efforts meant to ensure that Malawi is positioned as one of the leading countries of the green revolution in Africa.

“As pioneers of the green revolution in Africa, we see Malawi playing a big role in it and it is one of the countries we are having a great focus in East Africa. The green economy will create jobs and boost the economy of Malawi in such a way that it compensates what was lost during the pandemic,” he said adding that the coming of the company shall also be an opportunity for imparting skills to citizens in Malawi.

With the raging global war against climate change, electricity-propelled mobility is proving the way to go in the transport sector in Africa and Malawi where the intervention remains significantly under-utilized.

Malawi, like most African countries, imports second-hand vehicles from Japan and Europe which are heavily contributing to the increasing levels of emission of carbon dioxide

The electric vehicle's technology, according to Agilitee Africa CEO Dr. Mandla Lamba, will also help improve public health, reduce ecological damage, and cut emissions that help increase climate change.
