TC Chief Executive Officer Kayisi Sadala brought this up on yesterday Thursday when the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture were in Mpherembe to monitor progress of the 2020/21 tobacco registration process.
Sadala challenged government to provide a detailed information on how the money was used.
According to Sadala, despite collecting a levy of close to 5 billion kwacha, Malawi has not done any of its intended purpose, a development he described as worrisome.
However, Chairperson for the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture Sameer Suleiman assured TC that the committee will look into the matter.
During the meeting, the TC CEO further appealed to government to take a stand on the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) saying currently Malawi is not part of decision-making processes in global meetings that focus on the tobacco industry.
