120 Vulnerable Learners In Rumphi To Benefit From Education Aid

At least 120 orphans and underprivileged learners from the St-Denis primary school and Lundu Community Day Secondary School in Rumphi have all the reasons to smile following the commitment by a grouping called, Rumphi Residence Association that has promised to provide them with learning materials, such as school fees beginning this term.

Executive director of the Group, Walita Moir said after the launch of the project dubbed Caring and Sharing, in the district on Tuesday that their main goal is to see all learners having equal opportunity for education.

``Most of the times, children who fail to go further with their studies are orphans and those from underprivileged families. Now, this project seeks to address that gap between the rich and poor, said Moir.

One of the beneficiaries, Blessings Mtegha from St Denis primary school, expressed excitement with the assistance.

Explained Blessings, ``I expect my performance in class to improve since I will now have school needs like books.”

The 1000 Euro project is a continuous initiative, being supported by a Germany-based organisation.

The project covers school fees for learner’s groceries, school development fund, notebooks, pens and is targeting at least one hundred beneficiaries in two schools in the district.
