Lubrino says the woman was allegedly grabbed and raped by the boy.

"Yes, I can confirm that we are keeping in custody a 17-year-old boy (name withheld) who is alleged to have raped an 80-year-old woman(name withheld)," Lubrino said.

The incident occurred in Kandiwo Village in the area of traditional authority Kayembe in the district.

A medical report from Nambuma Health Centre confirmed that the 80-year-old woman was raped.

Meanwhile, police have arrested the boy and will appear before court soon to answer rape charges.
