CJ Nyirenda Calls On MPs to Always Represent Constituents

Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda is reminding Members of Parliament (MPs) to always represent the voices of the underprivileged that they represent at all times.

The chief justice notes that MPs only need their constituents during the electoral period, a development he says denies people their right to be heard.

Nyirenda was speaking on Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony of three MPs that were recently elected during the 26th October by-elections.

“When they have ushered you into this house, it is important that you carry their wishes through and through, it is important that their voice continues to be there through and through, the honorable status that you carry is not yours but it is for the people that you represent,” he said.

The three MPs that took oath are Joshua Malango, Overstone Kondowe, and Wachepa Phiri.
