Ntcheu Prophet Nabbed for Alleged Rape
In Ntcheu, a 29-year-old self-acclaimed prophet, Joseph Gamaliyele is in Police custody for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman in the district.
District Police Spokesperson, Rabecca Kwisongole says the victim is a follower of Gamaliyele's Prophet of Ebenezer Niss Ministry.
"On Monday, December 20, 2021, the victim went up hills at Dzonzi-Mvai for prayers. Whilst there, she received a phone call from the suspect asking her whereabouts.
“Upon disclosing, the Prophet followed and immediately after meeting her, Gamaliyele started demanding sex. Without her consent, he grabbed and raped her," said Kwisongole.
Police says the suspect will appear in court soon to answer a charge of rape.
He hails from Mayani Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Tambala in Dedza District.
