The Centre for Democracy and Economic Development (CDEDI) yesterday officially submitted a letter to parliament asking the Public Appointments Committee (PAC) to summon the Inspector General, George Kainja, to answer their concerns on security lapses amid rising cases of theft in the country.

PAC Chairperson, Joyce Chitsulo, says the committee could not act on the matter in the absence of official communication.

For the past few weeks, Malawians have witnessed a lapse in security with several cases reported of individuals and institutions being broken into.

The situation prompted, Centre for Democracy and Economic Development (CDEDI) to pen Public Appointments Committee (PAC) to summon Malawi Police Service Inspector General Dr. George Kainja to explain the situation.

PAC Chairperson, Joyce Chitsulo, told Zodiak online that they will pen they will formally write a summon to the Inspector General Monday.

Chitsulo said the initial complaint was not addressed to the committee but the recent one has been directed to her committee hence the move.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General, George Kainja has told us he will respond when he gets hold of the summon
