Court Reinstates Namalomba as PAC Chair

Leader of the House in Parliament Richard Chimwendo Banda says the house will obey a court injunction obtained by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lawmaker for Mangochi South West Shadreck Namalomba against his removal as Public Accounts of Committee of Parliament (PAC) chairperson.
Chimwendo Banda has, however, questioned Namalomba’s decision arguing he is no longer member of PAC which was recently reconstituted.
He says it is not making sense because Namalomba is no longer a member of PAC.
Chimwendo Banda says Parliament will obey the court order while waiting for legal guidance from Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda.
Lawyer for Namalomba Felix Tambulasi told Zodiak that with the injunction in place, his client has been reinstated as PAC chairperson
On Thursday, the High Court in Blantyre Namalomba an injunction restraining Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara, Democratic Progressive Party Chief Whip Julius Chione Mwase and the current PAC chairperson Mark Botomani [also from DPP] from removing him [Namalomba] as Pac Chairperson and member of the committee.
Namalomba was replaced by Zomba Chisi’s Botomani last month.
