CRA Calls For More Cannabis Markets

The Cannabis Regulatory Authority (CRA) is proposing the need for Malawi to identify well structured markets which can assist to achieve it's targets in cannabis cultivation.

CRA Board Chairperson Boniface Kadzamira made the call in Lilongwe at a meeting held under the Ndizotheka Eminent Speaker Series organised by the National Planning Commission, LUANAR and Mwapata Institute. Chief Executive Officer for Cannabis Laboratories Roger Saunt was the eminent speaker.

"We need to identify structured markets for our cannabis products as well as empowering farmers with relevant production facilities," Kadzamira said.

The board chairperson also hinted that the industry requires serious policies that can improve Malawi's cannabis production levels.

"We need to effect the available guidelines especially contracts between local farmers and the interested investors," Kadzamira added.

Research fellow at Mwapata Institute Dr Christone Nyondo,emphasized the need for Malawi to apply policies that can improve the value addition by making necessary investments in production.

"We need more investors for the country to realise it's dream in cannabis cultivation which is regarded as Malawi's gold," Dr Nyondo said.
