He was speaking at Bishop Mtekateka Secondary School in Nkhotakota during a five-day provincial conference for Sunday School teachers of the church which ended on Sunday.

The bishop said moral decadence being experienced now is due to gaps in the way parents and guardians are raising their wards.

He said corruption is one of the challenges that continue worsening due to failure to properly mold the spiritual life of children.

"Corruption is an issue of integrity. The culture of integrity, comes when the family takes up the initiative to teach their children what is right and what is wrong. If the family and the church are taking part, the culture of integrity can be there. That can make children have sense of being human", said the bishop.

Nkhotakota Acting District Commissioner Ben Tonho commended the church for its services in the spiritual life of children.

“This teaching to children will help them to grow in spirit; we believe that if we have prayerful people there will be useful citizens,” said Tonho.

Mercy Kandulu, a Sunday School teacher in the Lake Malawi Diocese of the Anglican Church, was one of the participants at the conference.

“We have improved our teaching skills because it was a platform of sharing ideas,” she said.

The conference brought together participants from the Central Africa Province of the church which covers four countries: Malawi, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
