The embattled Mahata is pushing for the amendment of section 80, subsection 6(B) of the constitution that compels presidential candidates not to be less than 35 years.
He argued in his presentation that the provision is in contradiction with the national youth policy which defines the youth age group as those below the age of 35.
"We believe amendment of section 80 subsection 6B can promote the eligibility of more youths to take part in the country's presidential election," Mahata added.
Committee Chairperson, Albert Mbawala says the advocate was sent back as his arguments lacked cohesion.
"We are not convinced with his arguments and has been asked to review his paper about the constitution amendment," Mbalawa said.
