MJ Records 25% Crime Increase In 2019

The year 2019 ended with police in Mulanje recording 1, 551 crimes against 1, 442 cases recorded in 2018.

This, according to the district police officer-in-charge, Senior Assistant Commissioner Kelvin Mulezo, shows a 24.9% crime increase.

“The public should not be worried with the increase. This increase is a sign of good crime recording not that more crimes were committed in the district,” said Mr. Mulezo.

He said this during the end of year party over the weekend.

District Commissioner Michael Chimbalanga said the council cherishes the good work police is doing in providing security to lives and property in the district.

“I urge you to put an extra gear this year to ensure that there is law and order in the district,” he said.
