WVM Bails out Balaka DHO on Covid 19 Management

Amid scarcity of personal prevention equipment in several health facilities, World vision Malawi has bailed out Balaka District Health Office with infection prevention materials, training and public awareness services.

World Vision International district manager for Balaka, Limbani Gondwe, says they have put aside about 2 million kwacha for the cause.

"This is one effort to contribute towards preparedness, prevention and effective response to COVID-19 outbreak in order to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with COVID-19 in Malawi," said Gondwe.

Balaka District Principal Clinical Officer, Dickson Mambulu, says they are banking hopes on different stakeholders to assist contain Covid 19 spread.

"The donation is timely but we still ask more well-wishers to come in and assist as we lack many personal preventive equipment," said Mambulu.

World Vision has donated face masks, hand washing pails, sanitizers, reaching out over three thousand households with Covid 19 messages through public address audio system among other interventions in Balaka.

Balaka has so far not registered any positive Covid 19 case.
