NAC Engages CBOS in the Fight against Coronavirus Spread

Amid the rising figures of Coronavirus infected people and COVID-19 deaths in Malawi, the National Aids Commission (NAC) has taken Coronavirus prevention messages to rural masses through Community Based Organizations.

NAC Head of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Research, Emmanuel Zenengeya, said the CBSOs should incorporate Coronavirus prevention messages in their approaches to the fight against HIV and AIDS.

“The CBOs who are already in touch with the community can help protect HIV positive people who because of their weak immune systems are risky victims if caught by Coronavirus,” said Zenengeya.

Chairperson of Mulanje district CBO network Paul Magulula challenged NAC that the CBOs will effectively sensitize their communities on COVID-19.

“With experience we have in the fight against HIV/AIDS, this will not be a difficult job,” said Magulula.

NAC has been briefing CBOs on COVID-19 in partnership with MANASO and Ministry of Health.
