About 100 people living with HIV and persons with disabilities can now afford a smile when Development Initiative Network, DIN Malawi provided fertilizer to them to do irrigation farming along the Likhubula river in Mulilima area in Chikwawa district.

The organization's Director Anderson Biliati believes this will motivate the people to work hard in their farms and be self-reliant. “We are very impressed with Namavu support group. Our hope is that these bags of fertilizer will assist them to achieve social economic development at household level," said Biliati.

The DIN Director added that they have also decided to distribute face masks to support groups, people with disabilities, the elderly and 95 Standard 8 learners to adhere to COVID 19 prevention measures.

"We encourage learners especially those that are sitting for the Primary School Education Certificate Examinations to follow all COVID 19 measures," he said.

Disability activist Pastor Beaton Masamba has commended DIN Malawi for targeting people with disabilities with COVID 19 messages and masks.

"We want to applaud DIN for the support. We hope other organizations will emulate this," said Pastor Masamba.

This happening when various government and non-state actors are conducting different interventions to fight COVID 19 pandemic.
