MUBAS Graduates 91 ODL Electrical Installers

The Ministry of Education has hinted that enhancement of vibrant and competitive higher open distance learning can assist the country to have skilled workforce.

Speaking on Thursday in Blantyre during the graduation of 91 ODL electrical installation at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), Director of ODL in the Ministry of Education, Joshua Valeta, believes this is also providing opportunity for the most vulnerable youth to access higher education.

“Vibrant and competitive higher Open Distance Learning is key for the country to have skilled workforce,” said Valeta.

He believes this will provide opportunity to the most vulnerable young people to access higher education.

“We greatly believe that adolescent girls and young women and vulnerable or disadvantaged youth,” he explained.

MUBAS Principal, Associate Professor Nancy Chitera, said they have incorporated entrepreneurship and innovation in all the programs to support government agenda in creating employment.

Associate Professor Chitera further said the University is planning to Introduce 10 new degree programs soon to respond to the country’s urgent needs to achieve social economic development.
