Parents and guardians in Neno district have been urged to prioritize sending their children to Early Childhood Development Centers (ECDCs) as one way of ensuring that no child is left behind in education and mold productive future leaders.

Neno District ECD Development Coordinator, Thandiwe Katopola, says children who have underwent ECD centre are easy to train in future and ably contributes to national development.

" Once a child is at an ECD centre, they are groomed to understand their daily roles, for example knowing when to wake up for school and also respond timely to instructions and demands of the world since their intellectual foundation is strong," she said.

Katopola has however thanked the World Bank for allocating three more ECD centres to Neno district, saying these will improve the education level of many hard-to-reach children of the district.

Group Village Head Dzomodya in whose area the event took place asked parents to embrace the culture of sending their wards to Community Based Care Centres (CBCCs) saying only well protected eggs are hatched.

A representative from the Social Welfare office Mary Malunga says ECD centres are critical in developing the mind of young ones since they are accorded an opportunity to understand the outside world at a tender age.

"Here at ECDC children are given right food proportions and playing tools which are critical in setting up their minds, so we encourage parents to send their children to these centres", she said.

Meanwhile ward councilor for Lisungwi, Mark Ngwangwa has asked partners in ECD to drum up more support to early childhood education saying more needs to be done, for example providing attractive renumeration to caregivers who are working as volunteers and provision of suitable learning materials.

The day was celebrated under the theme: Promoting Early Childhood Development and Collaboration among Partners.
