The Rastafarian Community demands arrest guards for Sayama Tea Estate Company suspected to have assaulted one of their own who eventually died while receiving treatment at Mulanje District Hospital on Saturday, 4th September, 2021.

National Priest Right Kamba told Zodiak Online on Monday that police should work on a postmortem report which revealed that Ras Dinala Chiponde died due to severe head injuries.

“Our hearts are bleeding when we think of this death, and we wonder why is police taking long to arrest the guards yet the postmortem report is very clear on the cause of Ras Chiponde’s death.

“And my brother, maybe you are not aware that these estates are on our land which estate owners grabbed from our ancestors,” said Priest Kamba.

Police maintain they are investigating the matter.

On Saturday, Mulanje Police Spokesperson Sub-Inspector Gresham Ngwira told Zodiak Online that they got reports that the company guards severely beaten Ras Chiponde after apprehending him for allegedly stealing bluegum trees in the company’s forest on Sunday, August 29th, 2021.
