Thyolo District Hospital Struggling with Shortage of Staff

Health authorities at Thyolo District Hospital say they are grappling with the acute shortage of staff and medical equipment such as, blood pressure machines and thermometers.
Thyolo Hospital Matron, Esme Kamaliza, has told Zodiak that the hospital is struggling to have enough stock because some of such equipment are faulty and used on daily basis.
"There are a lot of challenges which we face in delivering quality care to our patients, especially lack of resources such as, blood pressure machines and thermometers. we don't have them, usually because some equipment most of the times are faulty while others we use them on daily basis.
“Let me thank Adolorata Catholic Parish for cheering our patients both Spiritually and materially," Kamaliza said.
This came out Friday when Catholics for Adolorata parish donated assorted items to patients at the hospital to coincident the World Sick Day, which falls on 11 February also celebration of Mother Mary of Jesus and feast of St Bernadette of Lourdes who had apparition.
Father for Adolorata Catholic Parish, Marco Makolo, has encouraged the citizenry to take the responsibility of helping the vulnerable in the country, including the sick.
"By the nature of being a believer or Christian that's what Our Lord Jesus taught us. When He was here on earth, we saw Him preaching the word, healing the sick, feeding the hungry and also raising the dead.
“So that work is up for us that's why we are here today to express that oneness or togetherness with the sick," Father Makolo said.
This year's theme is "Be merciful, as Your Father Is Merciful".
