Evidence Action has initiated a three-year project in Neno district where it is installing chlorine dispensers in all water sources to minimize waterborne diseases.

The project, according to Area Coordinator, David Matabwa, will accord people safe water since they will no longer drink untreated water.

"We aim to give the people a befitting life like those at the boma who drink safer water from water boards and to achieve this, we introduced these chlorine dispensers," said Matabwa.

He further said that all the nine hundred plus sources where people draw their water for domestic use, shall be provided with the devices under the guidance of the water department of Neno district council.

The project will stay in Neno for three years consuming MK 1.5 billion.

Other dispensers will be installed in rural health centres where water is a challenge.

Every rainy season, Neno district is affected by typhoid fever outbreak and the project has come to eradicate this especially in hard to reach areas where tap water is a challenge.
