Nsanje Police Arrest 3 Over Death of Mozambican

Nsanje law enforcers are keeping in custody three men over alleged murder of a Mozambique national identified as Fisha Bulutu of Khonje village in Mozambique.

Nsanje police spokesperson, Sub Inspector, Agnes Zalakoma, identified the three as Kondwani Savuta, aged 33, Jeke Savuta, 30 and Patrick Goba, 39, all from Nyenyezi 2 village, in the area of Traditional Authority Malemia in Nsanje district.

She told Zodiak Online today that the man in question was allegedly assaulted to death on May 19, 2022, at Jambawe in Mozambique where there is a mining activity. People there extract precious stones manually.

A police report says "the Mozambique national was buying precious stones from different people including the suspects.

"On the day in question, the suspects called Fisha to discuss business and for the reason best known to themselves, they assaulted the man to death and later stole from him money amounting to K140,000 and one mobile phone. Then they buried him unceremoniously.”

The report further says "the three suspects escaped and came to their home village here in Malawi.

"Relations of the deceased in Mozambique started searching for him after they noticed that he was nowhere to be seen. In the process news broke out that the man was assaulted to death by the above-mentioned suspects."

It says the matter was reported at Nyandandanda border Police in Mozambique who alerted Nsanje Police Station about the incident on May 24, 2022.

According to the law enforcers, the suspects were arrested by members of community at their village yesterday and were later taken by Nsanje Police for further Police investigations and action.
