Zobue police of Mozambique and Mwanza police of Malawi have joined efforts to keep cross border crimes in check amid complaints that suspects from either sides escape across.

The two sides have agreed to embark on joint patrols and sharing of important information on criminal activities in their policing jurisdiction.

Gracia DE Jesus Mevoa, commander for Zobue police led her delegation to meet Mwanza police officer in charge Kelvin Maigwa and his crew on Friday.

Mevoa said: "Let us join hands in patrolling the porous border areas so as to tighten security in both sides."

Welcoming the suggestion, Maigwa said this is a step ahead in tightening security along the border areas.

"This will indeed help us protect our people and their property from different cross border crimes," said Maigwa.
