Health authorities in Phalombe say outreach clinics being implemented by stakeholders in the district are assisting to address challenges people living in hard to reach areas face when accessing health care services.

One of the health officials in Phalombe, Yamikani Chimkango, has told Zodiak Online on Friday that with long distances people travel to access quality health services, players have managed to bridge the gap by bringing quality health services closer to people in their respective areas.

Chimkango said areas affected by floods made people fail to access quality health services and the outreach clinics have greatly assisted to ease some challenges.

“Outreach clinics which were supported by Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) targeting areas affected by floods have assisted to curb challenges people face to access health services,” said Chimkango.

He spoke this when Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) wound up a three-month UNICEF funded humanitarian project dubbed 2022 Tropical Storm Ana Floods Response Health.

Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) Chairperson for Phalombe, Justin Kafantaye, said the society’s volunteers have assisted in mobilizing and coordinating between the community and health personnel in the provision of quality health services.

Kafantaye said volunteers will continue working with health personnel to ensure proper coordination and enhance access to quality health services.

According Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS), the project was aimed at providing basic health services to most affect and vulnerable groups affected by Tropical cyclone Ana in Phalombe district.
