Mangochi 11 Suspended Teachers Cleared

The Mangochi District Council has cleared 11 primary teachers out of 20 who were on suspension due to various misconducts.

District Chief Education Officer, Labson Kawalala, has told us Thursday, the 11 who are now back in their duty station were those that came for disciplinary action.

Kawalala said the other 9 are still suspended as they are yet to appear before the disciplinary committee over a month after being summoned and have since been removed from the payroll.

“After their suspension, we called them to appear before the disciplinary committee and only 11 come and the committee lifted their suspensions and are back to work, but with strong warning,” said Kawalala.

He said, while the council is yet to hear anything from the remaining 9, they will remain suspended and removed from payroll until they face the committee as they are still employees.

Earlier Mangochi District Commissioner, Dr. Raphael Piringu told us that the exercise is ongoing in all sectors to make sure that there is sanity at the council in order to achieve quality service delivery.
