A man was found hanging dead in a mango tree yesterday in Neno district which police says is a case of suicide.

According to Neno Police Officer In Charge Assistant Commissioner of Police Hanleck Chingolo, the man identified as Alfred Nyadani aged 30 had an extra marital affair.

"His wife got the news but gave the husband a silent treatment at home when she returned from Neno district hospital where she went to see a sick relative, then she went to her uncle's house to understand the matter," said Chingolo.

When the wife, (name withheld) came back home around 9 o'clock in the evening, she did not find the man in the house but only to find him hanging in a tree, according to the police.

Postmortem results indicate that death was due to strangulation.

“No foul play is being suspected,” he said.

He hailed from Kamoto village in the area of Traditional Authority Chekucheku in the district.

In a related development, the police, according to Chingolo have also registered a case of death of an unknown man who has been found in Shire river yesterday around the village of Manyenje.

He says a  fisherman who was conducting his business in the river found the dark in colour man floating in the river.

Postmortem results point that death is due to suffocation as a result of drowning.
