Man Arrested for Allegedly Defiling Daughter

Police in Monkey Bay have arrested a man identified as Buba Kapanga, 31, on suspicion he has been defiling his 11-year-old step daughter.

Monkey Bay Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Alice Sichali, told Zodiak online Wednesday, the latest incident that led to his arrest occurred on September 3, 2022 at a Village in the area of Traditional Authority Nankumba.

According to Sergeant Sichali, it is reported that Kapanga has been staying with the his wife, including the girl, for 4 years now.

“On the material date, the wife went to the lake for washing leaving behind the girl and her step father, but instead of looking after the kid, Kapanga take it as an advantage, grabbed the victim, carried her to his bedroom where he had carnal knowledge of her,” said Sichali.

She said when the mother came back, the victim explained the ordeal despite that the father threatened to kill her if she revealed the ordeal.

“The mother reported the matter to Monkey Bay Police Station where a referral letter was issued to Monkey Bay Community Health Centre where the results confirmed that penetration took place and the suspect has been arrested,” explained Sichali.

Kapanga hails from Chimphamba Village, Traditional Authority Nankumba in Mangochi District and will appear before court soon to answer the charge of defilement which contravenes section 138 of the penal code, according to Sergeant Sichali.
