Youths in Balaka have been urged to embrace mindset change towards the Malawi 2063 development blueprint.

Balaka district council youth representative, Geoffrey Mpinganjira, believes mindset change remains key for Malawi to realize her development dream.

He said MW2063 provides a general guiding direction on priority areas for national development up to the year 2063 through its short ten-year plans.

On 19th May 2021 the National Planning Commission (NPC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Trust through which the two institutions agreed to work together in the popularization of the Malawi 2063.

Among other things, the MoU is aimed at facilitating the mainstreaming of MW2063 into all general civic education messages, campaigns, activities and ICE materials at NICE-Trust.

Meanwhile, Nice Trust District Civic Education Officer for Balaka, Henry Zekeria says they are popularizing the blueprint to enhance citizen voices aimed at improving duty bearers responsiveness towards development.

The District Officer, told Zodiak that the concept seeks to harness the demographic dividend to initiate and drive the mind set change agenda with youths and other community structures.

On 19th January 2021, Malawi launched a youth-centric national Vision, Malawi 2063 (MW2063), a successor of Vision 2020.
