Police in Thyolo have arrested 35 people for allegedly encroaching Zoa Tea Estate.

The district's police station officer John Jailos, has told Zodiak today that the community members have been nabbed following an operation.

Jailos says after receiving a complaint from the owner last month, police and other district authorities engage them amicably, but they continued cultivating the land.

"We told these people not to go there again unless the DC can have something to say, but they never agreed on what was discussed and they kept on using the estate. And the estate owner came again to lodge a complaint and we revisited the scene it’s when now these people were arrested," Jailos said.

He says now unlawful use of land charge is now hanging on their heads.

Thyolo Police Station Officer has since urged the communities to engage chiefs and avoid encroaching the land which is in conflict amid growing incidences of the vice.
