Teacher Gets 14 years IHL for Defilement
Chinangwa has meted out a 14-year jail term on him for breaching the trust
The first grade magistrate’s court in thyolo has senetenced a 44-year old part-time teacher, Mike Soko Chikosa, to 14 years imprisonment with hard labor (IHL) for defiling an eight-year-old learner.
State prosecutor Felix Senzani told the court that Chikosa committed the offence on October 3, 2022 as he was teaching the minor who was also a relative and that medical examination turned out positive.
Senzani then prayed for a stiffer punishment considering that the parents trusted him and being a teacher, he needed to set as an example.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kondani Chinangwa has meted out a 14-year jail term on him for breaching the trust, but sentence is also subject to confirmation by the High Court.
The convict, Chikosa hails from Donda Village, Traditional Authority Chekucheku in Neno district.
