Officer in-Charge for the station, Gladson Chipumphula said they have embraced the technology to counter criminal sophistication and ensure police visibility and accuracy of evidence in courts.

This is coming at a time when criminals have become sophisticated by using digital technologies to beat the security system.

Chipumphula said this on Tuesday during the reopening of Bvumbwe police Sub-station in Thyolo.

"CCTV cameras have been mounted in strategic areas of the township. We have installed this camera, but mind you this kind of camera is a high-tech. This camera will have the capacity for instance to detect faces of criminals at large or committed a crime elsewhere; if that somebody is moving around in Limbe and give us signals", Chipumphula said.

Chipumphula has also unveiled plans to embrace drone system and also install the calibration machine which will be connected to the National Registration Bureau (NRB) system to track criminals through finger prints.

Limbe Station Executive Committee Chairperson, Mussa Lambati is optimistic that the system will simplify police work and help to step up security in the business city, especially this festive season.

"The cameras will make the police work easier. They will be able to beam most areas of Limbe from the head office to see everything happening in Limbe on the central command at the station," he said.

Meanwhile, Limbe police has also recognised two best performing police officers for Bangwe police' Sub Inspector Gerald Kandaya and Limbe police' Cosmas Zuze for the month of October.
