Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Blantyre Archdiocese, Thomas Luke Msusa, has called on lawyers and judges to continue striving to uphold truth and constitutionalism in the country.

Msusa has therefore challenged the legal minds to desist from corruption and stand for the truth in serving justice to Malawians.

"You should continue to stand for the truth, don't twist the truth always for the truth for the country to develop, mukayamba kulandira ziphuphu inuyo, they will not trust the justice system and in the end they will resort to mob justice," he challenged.

Scores of people from all walks of life gathered at Khumulike Village in Thyolo, Tuesday to bore testimony to what the former Anti-Corruption Bureau  Deputy Director General Alexious Nampota was worth to the country as he was escorted to his last mile.

The eulogizes poured at the ceremony described the attorney as influential in the country’s legal fraternity.

Malawi Law Society of Malawi (MLS) President Patrick Mpaka described late Nampota as someone who stood by truth and rule of law and fought corruption.

"I just want also to join the Archbishop for that request, if that message is sent around and we continue speaking like that I think we will have the country which is based in rule of law. This is because the judiciary and the legal profession serve as the last point of call", he agreed.

Supreme Court Judge, Justice Frank Kapanda, who represented Chief Justice at the funeral said the departed attorney was "a man of integrity who apart from helping the judiciary in speed delivery of Justice, also introduced more understanding of corruption offences".

Democratic Progressive Party DPP Vice President for the South, Kondwani Nankhumwa, business mogul Thomson Mpinganjira, were among other indivividuals that attended the funeral ceremony.

Nampota died at the age of 60.
