Neno district commissioner Hudson Kuphanga has called on players in the family planning services delivery to intensify their services in hard to reach areas in a bid to promote sexual reproductive and health rights among the rural masses.

He spoke this today in Neno during the Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM) exit meeting of their two-year N'zatonse Phase4 project.

Kuphanga says government alone cannot reach all corners with the services hence a call for collaboration and invite others to replace FPAM.

"We feel robbed of a very important stakeholder in as far as provision of family planning services is concerned in Neno. they have helped us a lot and we are thankful," said Kuphanga.

He further narrated that plans are underway to introduce mobile family planning services by the district hospital and advised the youths to desist from engaging in risky behaviours.

The DC then advised the youths, ages 10 to 24 to still seek reproductive health rights services at all the 15 health centres of the district. " This is also being extended to the elderly," he said.

In his exiting speech, N'zatonse Phase4 project coordinator Jane Mwalabu says they have managed to reach 56 percent of the 65 percent target of youths with sexual reproductive and health rights services.

"Although Covid-19 affected service delivery in the two years we have been in Neno rural areas, we have managed to reach out target and we are exiting with a smile", said Mwalabu.

The Project Coordinator further disclosed that they have trained youth ambassadors to still carry on the work of sensitisation on the benefits of family planning services.

Neno district FPAM manager, Harvey Gama assured the Neno DHO and partners of continued support where necessary, saying provision of health services is a big bond.

The model, which FPAM was using of mobile clinics, commonly known as "Outreach" provided both temporary, short- and long-term services.
