SWRB Targets 29000 Customers by 2040 in Phalombe

There are high prospects of improved quality water supply to residents at Phalombe Boma and Migowi as the Southern Region Water Board (SWRB) contemplates to construct new piped water system.

The Board’s Zonal Manager, Engineer Maxin Saulosi, told Zodiak Online on  Friday that  the project will  reach 29, 000 customers by 2040 in the two centres and along the corridors of Phalombe and Migowi.

Saulosi said construction works for the project will commence in the next six months and is expected to be completed in 2024.

"We have set aside K65 million  to help some residents of Phalombe Boma and a fast growing trading centre of Migowi access piped water," said Saulosi.

He disclosed this when the Board officials briefed stakeholders in Phalombe about the project.

Meanwhile, Phalombe district commissioner, Douglas Moffat, has described the project as game changer arguing it will help residents to access potable water.

Residents of Migowi and Kambona areas where the newly opened district hospital is situated have been complaining about saline water for years now.
